Vijay Khanna, RippleX Director of Engineering, says the XRP Ledger’s latest security release marks the beginning of a longer effort to strengthen the network. According to Khanna, developers still have significant work ahead despite the successful deployment of XRPL version 3.1.3.
Khanna shared the update while highlighting the work behind the latest release. He noted that Ripple’s AI-assisted red team played a major role in preparing the upgrade for mainnet deployment. His comments suggest that future XRP Ledger releases will continue prioritizing security improvements and bug fixes.
The update follows months of work by Ripple engineers and security researchers. Ripple launched its dedicated AI-assisted red team in March to identify vulnerabilities and improve the resilience of XRPL-related software. Since then, the initiative has expanded across several parts of the ecosystem.
According to information released by Ripple software engineer Mayukha Vadari, the team uses multiple testing methods to uncover different categories of bugs. These efforts have already resulted in the public disclosure of 287 xrpld issues on GitHub. Of those findings, 231 remain open while 49 have been resolved.

AI-Assisted Reviews Expand Across the XRPL Ecosystem
Ripple stated that most identified issues involve code-quality enhancements and defense-in-depth measures. Importantly, none of the disclosed findings affected network stability, system availability, or the security of user funds.
Additionally, the red team reviewed several XRP Ledger software development kits. The process uncovered 44 issues in xrpl-py, 48 issues in xrpl.js, and 126 issues in xrpl-rust. Developers have already addressed several of those findings through ongoing updates.
Moreover, the review process continues to generate new reports as engineers examine additional components. Ripple said triage efforts remain active as teams assess and prioritize findings for future releases.
Version 3.1.3 focused entirely on security-related improvements. The release included 20 findings generated by the AI-assisted red team. Developers also incorporated several smaller fixes discovered during internal reviews, with some issues identified through AI-supported analysis tools.
The release further introduced fixes connected to NFTs, Permissioned Domains, Vaults, and the Lending Protocol through the fixCleanup3_1_3 amendment package. These updates aim to improve reliability across several important XRPL features.
Ripple Raises Security Standards for Future XRPL Upgrades
Looking ahead, Ripple expects future releases, including version 3.2.0, to incorporate more confirmed findings from the current backlog. The company also plans broader attack simulations and enhanced fault-injection testing before new software reaches production environments.
Additionally, engineers intend to improve analysis techniques to better identify risks created by interactions between multiple XRPL features. More comprehensive attackathons are also planned before future amendments receive mainnet activation.
Consequently, Ripple is raising the security threshold for new amendments and protocol upgrades. The company believes stricter testing procedures will help strengthen network reliability as the XRP Ledger ecosystem continues to expand.
Khanna’s latest comments indicate that XRPL security efforts remain an ongoing priority. As Ripple’s AI-assisted red team continues its work, future XRP Ledger releases are expected to deliver additional safeguards, fixes, and testing improvements across the network.
