According to monitoring by Beating, a report released by Ramp, a U.S.-based business expense management platform, for June 2026, China’s AI company DeepSeek has topped the list of popular software. Despite prior U.S. government restrictions on Chinese large models, actual commercial transaction data reveals a contrasting reality. Ramp analyzed credit card spending records from over 50,000 companies on its platform and found that many U.S. firms are not deploying open-source models locally but are instead directly paying for DeepSeek’s official hosted API services. This means large volumes of data from U.S. companies are being sent and stored directly on servers located in China. The real flow of funds stands in stark contrast to the caution shown by American society over a year ago when DeepSeek R1 was first released. At that time, due to concerns about data leaks and security, major U.S. corporations and government agencies generally restricted the use of Chinese models. However, faced with the high costs of domestic models from OpenAI or Anthropic, many small and medium-sized enterprises ultimately chose to prioritize cost savings by directly purchasing hosted services based in China. Beyond direct use of DeepSeek, U.S. companies are also becoming more cost-conscious in their AI spending, gradually shifting away from OpenAI and Anthropic toward open-source ecosystems. AI inference platforms such as Fireworks AI, fal AI, and DeepInfra—which offer API access to open-source models—have all appeared on the rankings. Many companies are now adopting intelligent routing strategies, reserving expensive OpenAI or Anthropic flagship models only for the most complex tasks, while delegating the majority of routine operations to more affordable open-source models. While the market once feared that AI agents would replace traditional software design tools, actual data shows that design software remains robust. In this month’s rankings, the design tool Figma topped the list of fastest-growing software, and the collaborative design tool Paper also made the popularity list, indicating that traditional design software continues to hold strong ground in enterprise environments.
Ramp Report: Many U.S. Firms Choose DeepSeek API to Reduce Costs
MarsBitShare

A Ramp daily market report reveals that many U.S. firms are using China’s DeepSeek API to reduce costs, despite past security concerns. Analysis of over 50,000 credit card transactions found companies transmitting data to Chinese servers, avoiding expensive U.S. models like OpenAI. Some are also turning to Fireworks AI and DeepInfra for more affordable alternatives. Firms continue to use high-end models for complex tasks. Design tools such as Figma remain popular. Altcoins to watch may benefit from this shift in AI spending.
