Prometheum, a U.S.-based digital asset infrastructure firm, has launched a digital brokerage solution for traditional firms, enabling RIAs and brokers to offer crypto trading and custody. The firm, which is SEC-registered and FINRA-membered, aims to bridge the gap between traditional finance and on-chain assets. Aaron Kaplan, co-founder and co-CEO, noted that while tokenization has been solved, distribution remains a challenge. Prometheum’s solution targets the digital assets and digital collectibles markets, aiming to expand access for mainstream investors.

Huo Xing Finance reports that on May 25, U.S. digital asset infrastructure company Prometheum announced the launch of a digital brokerage solution designed for broker-dealers and Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs), enabling traditional brokerage accounts to directly offer tokenized securities and crypto asset trading, custody, and clearing services. Aaron Kaplan, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Prometheum, stated that the crypto industry has solved the problem of “asset tokenization” but has yet to address “distribution,” leaving a vast number of on-chain securities inaccessible to mainstream investors. Kaplan noted that hundreds of billions of dollars in tokenized securities have already been issued on-chain, yet lack support from traditional broker-dealer channels, making large-scale user adoption difficult. “If tokenized assets cannot enter the brokerage systems investors are already using, then tokenization is merely a solution without a market.” Prometheum is betting that traditional Wall Street financial institutions will lead the next phase of on-chain finance. The company currently holds a full suite of regulatory licenses, including SEC registration and FINRA membership, covering issuance, trading, custody, clearing, and settlement. In May of this year, Prometheum joined the DTCC (Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation) Tokenization Working Group. Prometheum says that over the coming months, additional broker-dealers and RIAs will integrate with its infrastructure, and the company plans to launch on-chain distribution partnerships targeting large institutional issuers. Kaplan emphasized that the future of capital markets will gradually move on-chain, but the key is not to replace the existing financial system—rather, to upgrade it through faster settlement, lower costs, and broader distribution capabilities.
