BlockBeats report: On June 5, Polymarket’s Chief Marketing Officer, Matthew Modabber, transferred over $2.5 million to more than 800 individuals via his personal PayPal account between January 2025 and February 2026. Among them, approximately 24 identifiable influencers posted content related to Polymarket on X after receiving payments, accumulating over 490 posts without disclosing any paid promotion relationships.
The recipients include content creators with varying political stances, such as conservatives and progressives, some of whom presented Polymarket odds using journalistic phrasing like “BREAKING” and “NEW.” In response, a Polymarket spokesperson stated that collaborating with influencers is a standard business practice for the company but declined to comment on related disclosure policies or Modabber’s use of personal accounts for trading. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission requires influencers to disclose any “material connection” with promoted brands. (Politico)
