Odaily Planet Daily reports that the prediction market platform Polymarket has banned and reported users who issued death threats to an Israeli journalist, attempting to force the journalist to alter a news report regarding an Iranian missile strike, an event tied to a prediction market with $17 million in bets.
On Monday, Times of Israel military correspondent Emanuel Fabian wrote that he received requests to alter his report regarding the landing of an Iranian missile near the Israeli city of Beit Shemesh on March 10. The prediction market allows users to bet on the date of an Iranian attack on Israel, with over $17 million wagered on the March 10 option.
Fabian stated that he received a threatening message from someone claiming to be "Haim," who demanded that he alter his report, warning of serious consequences, and provided specific details about his parents, family, and residence. Fabian has reported this threat to the police, who are currently investigating.
Polymarket issued a statement on X condemning harassment and threats against Emanuel Fabian, stating that it has banned the relevant accounts and referred the information to authorities. The Israeli Defense Forces later confirmed that the missile that exploded near Beit Shemesh was not intercepted.
