Paxful Agrees to Plead Guilty, Fined $7.5M for Facilitating Criminal Activities

Bitcoin market news: Paxful Holdings Inc., a Bitcoin P2P platform, agreed to plead guilty to U.S. federal charges and will pay a $4 million criminal fine to the DOJ. FinCEN also imposed a $3.5 million civil penalty. From 2017–2019, Paxful processed $3 billion in transactions, earning $29 million, while enabling criminal activities. The platform failed to file required reports and misled third parties about its AML policies. The company shut down in 2023. Sentencing is scheduled for Feb 10, 2026.
