CoinDesk reports that on April 21 (UTC+8), according to monitoring by Beating, NVIDIA open-sourced the AI Agent sandbox runtime OpenShell, releasing version v0.0.33. The project uses YAML-based policies to control file access, data exfiltration, and network requests within the sandbox, providing secure isolation for autonomous agents executing code. This release introduces libkrun as an independent compute driver and enhances seccomp filtering, inference routing, and process limits within the sandbox. Previously, OpenShell’s compute backend relied on Kubernetes, running on a single Docker container with a K3s cluster. Libkrun is a micro-VM library based on KVM, offering startup speeds comparable to containers while providing virtual machine-level isolation. For executing untrusted code from agents, this adds an additional kernel-level boundary beyond containers. The project has accumulated 5.2k stars on GitHub under the Apache 2.0 license. The official README notes that it remains in alpha stage and currently supports only a single-player mode: one developer, one environment, and one gateway.

On-chain news: OpenShell v0.0.33 is now live, introducing a libkrun micro-VM driver for enhanced isolation. The project announcement highlights updates to seccomp filtering, inference routing, and process limits. Previously running on Kubernetes with K3s inside a single Docker container, the new libkrun driver leverages KVM for VM-level isolation with container-like speed. Hosted on GitHub with 5.2k stars, OpenShell remains in alpha and supports single-player mode only.
