According to Beating Monitor, the open-source AI assistant project OpenClaw has released version v2026.5.22, introducing significant updates to gateway performance and external plugin support. The new version reduces the response latency of the model list retrieval API from approximately 20 seconds to just 5 milliseconds—nearly a 4,100-fold performance improvement—by pre-warming service authentication status during gateway startup. This pre-warming mechanism allows model listing requests in the hot path to bypass the cumbersome plugin and external command-line discovery processes. In terms of plugin ecosystem support, the new version introduces the standalone external plugin "meeting-notes," independent of the core npm package, and supports Discord voice channels as the first real-time input source. Users can access recordings via a read-only command-line tool, `openclaw meeting-notes`, or manually import them as text. To reduce context overhead in multi-agent deployments and prevent sensitive information leaks, the new version has restructured the sub-agent startup context mechanism: by default, only AGENTS.md and TOOLS.md are transmitted to delegated sub-agents, fully isolating personal settings, user memories, and identity key files. On the infrastructure and ecosystem integration front, the project has upgraded its protobufjs dependency to version 8.4.0 to address security vulnerabilities. For xAI integration, the new version supports reusing Grok’s OAuth authorization file for web searches. Additionally, OpenAI image generation has been fully rerouted to the native image interface, completely resolving the historical issue of 401 errors caused by failed Codex streaming backend authentication with valid API keys.

OpenClaw v2026.5.22 is a major project update, reducing model list latency from 20 seconds to 5 milliseconds. The update features a pre-warmed authentication mechanism, a standalone meeting notes plugin, and Discord voice support. It also introduces OAuth reuse for xAI and a redesigned sub-Agent context for enhanced data isolation. These improvements align with ongoing new token listings and rising demand for real-time AI tools.
