According to CoinDesk, OpenAI is establishing an artificial intelligence laboratory in Singapore through a multi-year partnership with the Singapore government to support the country’s AI development strategy. In a statement on Wednesday, OpenAI said it has agreed to invest over S$300 million (approximately $234 million USD) to create its first applied AI laboratory outside the United States. Over the coming years, its technology team in Singapore is expected to expand to more than 200 people. OpenAI already established an office in Singapore in 2024. The company is currently forming partnerships with governments worldwide to maintain a competitive edge over rivals such as Anthropic and Google. Singapore has designated artificial intelligence as a strategic priority.
