AIMPACT update: On May 6 (UTC+8), OpenAI announced a collaboration with AMD, Broadcom, Intel, Microsoft, and NVIDIA to launch the new open network protocol, MRC (Multipath Reliable Connection). OpenAI stated that the protocol enables larger and more stable operations for large-scale AI training clusters while reducing GPU resource waste. MRC has already been deployed across all of OpenAI’s supercomputers used for training state-of-the-art models, including its facility in Abilene, Texas, with Oracle OCI, and Microsoft’s Fairwater supercomputer.
