BlockBeats report, July 21: According to official announcements, Ondo Perps has launched a tokenized stock collateral feature, enabling all users to use Ondo Finance’s tokenized stocks as eligible collateral for perpetual futures trading. The initial supported assets include the tokenized versions of the S&P 500 ETF SPYon and the Nasdaq 100 ETF QQQon. Ondo stated that its perpetual futures platform has achieved trading volume exceeding $3.8 billion, as demand grows for on-chain stock derivatives offering hedging capabilities, deep liquidity, tight spreads, low slippage, near-CEX trading speeds, and 24/7 availability.
Ondo states that its tokenized stock collateral mechanism enables traders to gain exposure to other markets without holding funds in stablecoins or selling existing assets, thereby improving capital efficiency. This feature is part of Ondo’s “productive capital” strategy, aimed at gradually bringing the liquidity and capital efficiency of tokenized stocks and stock perpetual contracts closer to those of traditional derivatives markets. The company notes that the current trading and margin infrastructure built on tokenized assets is just the beginning of a broader on-chain prime brokerage ecosystem, with more markets, liquidity products, and innovative features planned for the future.
