MLB has entered into an exclusive partnership with Polymarket for prediction market integration, granting the platform permission to use MLB trademarks and logos for promotional purposes. The league also signed a memorandum of understanding with the CFTC to enhance information sharing and protect game integrity. MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred stated that these agreements help regulate the rapidly expanding prediction market, including by restricting high-risk contracts related to pitches, coaching, and umpire performance. This development follows growing interest in price prediction and Bitcoin price prediction within the crypto and sports betting sectors.

Odaily Planet Daily reports: Major League Baseball (MLB) has reached new agreements with Polymarket and the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). MLB has established an exclusive partnership with Polymarket, granting Polymarket the right to use its trademarks and logos, and Polymarket will receive promotional placement on MLB’s official website and at game venues. MLB has also signed a memorandum of understanding with the CFTC, covering information sharing and the protection of event integrity.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said that the new agreement with Polymarket and the CFTC is a key step in proactively managing the rapidly growing prediction market space. MLB will collaborate with Polymarket to restrict trading on contracts posing risks to game integrity, such as those related to individual pitches, coach decisions, and umpire performance.

The CFTC is currently seeking to solidify its position as the sole regulator of prediction markets, while state officials argue that prediction markets fall under gambling regulations. This week, the Attorney General of Arizona filed criminal charges against Kalshi, alleging it operated an illegal gambling platform. Kalshi’s CEO, Tarek Mansour, and CFTC Chair Michael Selig both characterized the charges as an overreach by state authorities.
