Odaily Planet Daily reports that the mETH Protocol has announced a phased shutdown of its liquid staking token (LRT), cmETH, to refocus on the long-term development direction of the protocol. The official statement confirmed that all other mETH Protocol products will continue to operate normally. cmETH holders can still redeem and perform cross-chain operations, while mETH stakers need take no action.
Officially disclosed, since its launch, cmETH has grown to become one of the most integrated LRTs, with a peak TVL of $620 million. However, following a reassessment of the current re-staking landscape, the team believes that shutting down cmETH is the more prudent decision, according to the timeline:
As of May 7, 2026, the cmETH minting function has been disabled;
In mid-June 2026, the final EigenLayer reward distribution will take place;
The reward claiming window for the historical cmETH event closed on November 7, 2026.
