Meta has delayed the launch of its new AI model, 'Avocado,' until at least May due to performance issues, according to ChainCatcher and three sources. Internal tests revealed that the model underperformed compared to leading models from Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic in areas such as reasoning and programming. Although 'Avocado' represents an improvement over Meta’s previous models, it still trails behind Google’s 'Gemini 3.0.' AI and crypto news continues to spotlight key developments, as new token listings also attract attention from traders and developers.

ChainCatcher report: According to The New York Times, Meta CEO Zuckerberg stated in July last year that his company’s new AI model would be launched within about a year. However, according to three informed sources, Zuckerberg now appears to be struggling to meet that deadline. Those familiar with the situation said that Meta’s months-long development of its next-generation “frontier” AI model has not matched the performance of leading AI models from competitors such as Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic in internal tests evaluating reasoning, programming, and writing capabilities. Two sources revealed that the model, codenamed “Avocado,” outperforms Meta’s previous AI models but still falls short of Google’s Gemini 3.0, released in November last year. As a result, Meta has delayed the release of “Avocado” from this month to at least May.
