ChainCatcher report, according to Bitcoin Magazine, Lightning Labs has released the alpha version of Wavelength, a toolkit that enables developers and AI agents to self-custody Bitcoin payments via a simple non-custodial API, without requiring node operation, channel management, or liquidity acquisition. Wavelength supports on-chain Bitcoin, Lightning Network payments, and settlement layers similar to Ark; each off-chain payment uses standard BOLT 11 invoices and is interoperable with the existing Lightning Network. AI agents can invoke the API via the Model Context Protocol (MCP), hold balances, and pay for API calls and other services in satoshis. Wavelength is now live on Signet and testnet, with mainnet access available by invitation only. Initial support is for Bitcoin, with stablecoin support planned via Taproot Assets.
