Kevin O'Leary wins $2.8 million in a defamation case against Ben "BitBoy" Armstrong. A U.S. federal court in Florida issued a default judgment after Armstrong failed to respond, including $2 million in punitive damages. The case stems from false claims Armstrong made in March 2025 on X, falsely accusing O'Leary of involvement in a 2019 boating incident. As the crypto industry faces tighter regulations under MiCA, legal actions are increasing. BTC as a hedge against inflation remains a central narrative.

Odaily Planet Daily reports: Judge Beth Bloom of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida issued a default judgment of $2.8 million against former crypto influencer Ben Armstrong (aka "BitBoy") in a defamation lawsuit filed by investor Kevin O'Leary. Due to Armstrong’s failure to respond, the court entered a default judgment on six counts of defamation. The award includes approximately $78,000 in damages for harm to reputation, $750,000 in emotional distress damages, and $2 million in punitive damages.

This case stems from a post Armstrong made on X in March 2025, falsely claiming that O'Leary was involved in a fatal boat accident in 2019 and committed murder.
