Twitter (now X) and Block co-founder Jack Dorsey has unveiled a group chat platform designed to replace Slack and GitHub. The project is called Buzz and is available as open source.

According to Dorsey, Buzz is built for teams and AI agents. It lets users exchange messages, assign tasks, and handle development and planning within a single workspace.

In effect, it is a Slack alternative, but with additional features. In particular, the platform lets users run their own agents, which can also interact with other models.

Since the solution is open source, developers can customize the Buzz client to fit their needs.

Dorsey claims the platform is decentralized. A Block statement says it is built on the Nostr protocol.

“The service’s functionality includes channels, discussion threads, direct messages, voice calling, media sharing, code repositories, and automated workflows. The interface will feel familiar to anyone who has used modern team communication tools,” the post says.

The official website notes that Buzz is at an early stage of development.
