An Iranian senior official stated that U.S.-Iran talks are stalled due to the Trump administration’s refusal to unfreeze $24 billion in Iranian assets. The advisor warned that renewed military action could lead to a "dark path," emphasizing that the risk-to-reward ratio for the U.S. favors maintaining leverage over releasing funds. Iran is seeking $12 billion upfront, with another $12 billion to follow upon reaching an agreement. U.S. officials remain cautious, fearing internal support and resistance. The advisor denied reports of a Trump-Mejlisi meeting, stating that Trump has delayed negotiations. Trump recently expressed openness to such a meeting, adding pressure to the stalemate.

BlockBeats news, on June 6, according to CNN, a senior Iranian official stated on Friday that a potential peace agreement between the United States and Iran hinges on whether the Trump administration agrees to unfreeze $24 billion in Iranian assets, warning that if the U.S. restarts military action, it would be "entering a dark path."

An advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader, in an exclusive interview with CNN, stated: “Negotiations have reached a deadlock; Trump must break this deadlock—now the ball is in Trump’s court.” According to reports, Iran demands that upon signing an interim agreement with the U.S., $12 billion in frozen assets be immediately unfrozen, followed by another $12 billion in subsequent stages. U.S. officials, however, fear that unfreezing funds at this stage could weaken a critical leverage point against the Iranian regime. The advisor described the unfreezing of funds as a confidence-building measure, stating that if the Trump administration releases this money, it would “open a new chapter” in the future relationship between Iran and the United States.

He also warned that if the United States reignites conflict, Iran will expand the "war" beyond the Persian Gulf, extending its military operations from the Strait of Hormuz to the Indian Ocean, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, the Red Sea, and the Mediterranean. He stated: “We will escalate the war to a new level by striking other U.S. military bases that have previously been targeted,” but he added, “The likelihood of war breaking out is low.” When asked about a possible meeting between Trump and Mojtaba, he said: “This will not happen; we are currently in the first stage of negotiations, and Trump has brought the negotiations to a standstill.” This week, Trump said he and Mojtaba “seem to get along well” and added that meeting him would be “a great honor.”
