On May 20, 2026, Hyperliquid announced on-chain updates via revised HIP-3 documentation, revealing that the 500,000 HYPE staking requirement for perpetual DEX deployment will gradually decrease as infrastructure improves. Excess staked tokens may be withdrawn once staking thresholds are lowered. Each DEX will maintain separate margin accounts, order books, and deployer settings. Future upgrades may enable multiple DEXs to share a single deployer and staking requirement. This update coincides with ongoing new token listings and protocol enhancements.

BlockBeats news, May 20: Hyperliquid has just updated its official HIP-3 documentation. The update shows that the 500,000 HYPE staking requirement to deploy a perpetual DEX "will gradually decrease as infrastructure matures. Any amount exceeding subsequent staking thresholds can be unstaked."

In addition, the document states: "Any deployer meeting the staking requirements can deploy a permanent DEX. Note that each permanent DEX has its own margin, order book, and deployer settings. Future upgrades may support multiple DEX deployments sharing the same deployer and staking requirements."

BlockBeats believes that lowering the staking threshold will attract more builders to the HIP-3 ecosystem, while enabling greater integration into niche markets and more experimentation.
