Derived from Forklog, the volume of Bitcoin that has been moved from long-term inactivity (over seven years) has reached a new historical high. Analysts from OnChainSchool noted that in 2023, the figure was 59,000 BTC, rising to 255,000 BTC in 2024 and 270,000 BTC in the first part of 2025. Researchers suggest possible reasons include long-term holders selling amid high prices, old miners moving reserves, and transfers to new cold wallets for security. Analyst Darkfost highlighted that long-term holders are still realizing around 12,000 BTC in profits daily, though the figure is gradually declining. Another analyst, Axel Adler Jr., noted a drop in speculative pressure and suggested the market is entering an accumulation phase ahead of a potential growth phase.
