According to Beating Monitor, Nous Research has released the open-source agent framework Hermes Agent v0.13.0. The official name for this release is “Tenacity,” specifically designed to address the issue of agents abandoning tasks or deviating from their goals during long-term execution. The most significant change is the reinstatement and full integration of the Kanban multi-agent collaboration system, which had been briefly tested and withdrawn in a prior version. The new Kanban system introduces heartbeat detection, zombie process cleanup, per-task retry limits, and a “hallucination recovery” mechanism, enforcing that agents claiming tasks must complete them—preventing the entire AI team from spinning uselessly on a shared board. For single-agent control, the new version introduces the /goal command, which tightly anchors the agent’s focus on its current objective, shielding it from distractions in multi-turn conversations. Underlying mechanisms have also been strengthened: Checkpoints v2 has been rewritten to improve state persistence and automatically clean up obsolete records; ongoing sessions automatically resume after system gateway restarts. Additionally, this version fixes eight P0-level critical vulnerabilities, enables data anonymization by default, and fully transforms the underlying model architecture into a plug-in system.
