Gunfire Near White House, Trump Inside as Suspect Dies

Huo Xing Finance reports: On the evening of May 23 local time, early morning on May 24 Beijing time, intense gunshots were heard near the White House in the United States, prompting the immediate lockdown of the White House. At the time of the incident, U.S. President Trump was inside the White House. According to law enforcement officials, a "emotionally unstable suspect" approached a checkpoint at the intersection of 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue near the White House and, after being urged to leave without compliance, opened fire on law enforcement officers. The suspect was shot and subdued by officers and transported to a hospital. One civilian was also injured during the exchange of gunfire. Reports indicate that both individuals sustained serious injuries. The U.S. Secret Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are conducting further investigations.
