As reported by Odaily, distributed AI lab Gradient has open-sourced Parallax, an operating system designed for on-premise AI applications. The system supports cross-platform deployment of open-source large models on Mac, Windows, and other heterogeneous devices, enabling users to maintain control over models, data, and AI memory. Parallax features network-aware sharding and dynamic task routing, allowing intelligent scheduling and seamless switching between single-machine, multi-device, and wide-area cluster modes. It is currently compatible with over 40 open-source large models, including Qwen3, Kimi K2, DeepSeek R1, and gpt-oss. Developers can deploy it locally to build and run AI applications such as coding assistants, personal agents, and multimodal generation, keeping sensitive data and control rights on-premise.
