According to Odaily, sources revealed that Google is in preliminary discussions to significantly increase its investment in AI startup Anthropic. The new funding round could value Anthropic at over $350 billion. The potential deal, still under negotiation, may take the form of a priced financing round in early 2025, convertible bonds, or a strategic investment involving more cloud computing services from Google. Earlier this month, the two companies announced an agreement for Google to supply up to one million AI-specific chips to Anthropic, strengthening Google's position as a key investor and infrastructure provider in the AI arms race.
