The DeFi protocol Fluid has rolled out a protocol update to address liquidity challenges and reduce systemic risk in the DeFi market. As Aave’s ETH utilization reaches 100%, lenders are struggling to withdraw funds. The new aWETH redemption protocol enables ETH lenders to convert their positions into wstETH or weETH, restoring liquidity and reducing liquidation risks. Fluid is collaborating with Lido Finance, EtherFi, and other partners to support a more stable DeFi ecosystem. The protocol begins with $1 billion in ETH capacity. This move follows growing concerns over potential DeFi exploit scenarios tied to high utilization rates.

BlockBeats report, April 20: The DeFi protocol Fluid officially announced the launch of the aWETH redemption protocol. Due to ETH utilization on the Aave platform reaching 100%, many borrowers are currently unable to withdraw their funds and face increasing risk if market volatility occurs. The aWETH redemption protocol will allow ETH borrowers to:

Redeem for wstETH or weETH

• Restore liquidity immediately

• Reduce liquidation risk

If a user has lent only ETH, they can fully redeem it. If a user has ETH collateral and other debts, the collateral will be seamlessly converted to wstETH or weETH, while the debt remains unchanged. Fluid is collaborating with Lido Finance, EtherFi, and other ecosystem partners to reduce systemic risk in DeFi, alleviate usage pressure, and support a healthier DeFi market. The protocol’s initial capacity is capped at $1 billion in ETH.
