Firecrawl has launched its open-source Web Agent framework, providing AI and crypto news developers with a tool for autonomous "search-scrape-interact" tasks. The framework supports Anthropic, OpenAI, and self-hosted models, featuring a Plan-Act loop and parallel subagents. It includes on-chain news capabilities for financial data scraping and uses Claude Opus 4.7 as the default model. Developers can generate agent templates using the 'firecrawl create agent' command.

ME News reports that on April 17 (UTC+8), according to monitoring by Beating, Firecrawl has officially open-sourced its web agent framework, Web Agent, designed to help developers build AI agents capable of autonomously executing closed-loop tasks of “search-crawl-interact.” Built upon Firecrawl’s existing /agent architecture, the framework supports integration with Anthropic, OpenAI, or any self-hosted large models, emphasizing flexibility and self-hosting capabilities in web research scenarios. The framework’s core architecture employs a “Plan-Act” cyclic mechanism. Upon receiving a command, the agent breaks down the task into steps and synchronizes operations via parallel subagents running in separate browser sessions. This design offers significant advantages when handling large-scale concurrent tasks—for example, as demonstrated in the video, the agent can simultaneously extract real-time stock data and news from multiple company websites. For developers, this tool significantly lowers the barrier to building web agents. A complete agent template based on Next.js or Express can be rapidly generated using the command `firecrawl create agent`. Additionally, the framework introduces reusable “Skill.md” files, allowing developers to encapsulate complex workflows—such as specific scraping logic for Yahoo Finance—into reusable Skills that agents can invoke directly in subsequent tasks. In the latest version, Web Agent has upgraded its default model to Claude Opus 4.7 and includes a specialized skill package tailored for the financial sector. The project is now open-sourced under the MIT license, encouraging community contributions and fork-based development. (Source: BlockBeats)
