BlockBeats news, on April 4, F2Pool co-founder Wang Chun posted on X that Bitcoin protocol upgrades should not emulate the approach of U.S. politicians who force through "certain essential but unpopular provisions" via bundled legislation—this is a key reason for his opposition to BIP-110 and BIP-54.
In response to any fixes involving BIP-54, Wang Chun added that the "Timewarp" issue has long existed and offers no significant advantage to miners, as it is impossible to predict who will mine the next block; its only practical use is to disrupt certain altcoins. Since it provides almost no real benefit to Bitcoin miners, there is no urgent need to modify it. Additionally, block validation efficiency has been significantly improved through libsecp256k1 and hardware upgrades, eliminating the need for protocol-level changes. Furthermore, the "forging of confirmed transactions" fundamentally relies on breaking double SHA256 collisions—if successful, it would mean Bitcoin’s core security has been compromised.
Wang Chun added that none of the above issues are sufficient to warrant protocol modifications; currently, only the "duplicate transactions" issue has some remediation value and may be one of the few changes worth implementing.
