Fintech firm Exodus Movement announced a 25% staff reduction as part of a strategic reorganization to cut costs and align with new business goals. The move follows recent acquisitions of Monavate Holdings and Baanx.com to boost stablecoin and card payment capabilities. Exodus will provide severance and retain benefits for affected employees, with the restructuring expected to save up to $13 million in operating expenses, visible in 2027 results. The decision comes amid shifting market conditions and a mixed fear and greed index, with price movement in the sector remaining closely watched.

Fintech company Exodus Movement announced a reorganization that includes a 25% reduction of its global workforce. The goal of these changes is to optimize the company’s costs and organizational structure around its new line of business.

Notably, Exodus Movement is the developer of the platform of the same name. It combines the functions of a non-custodial crypto wallet and a payments solution.

In May 2026, the company announced that it had acquired Monavate Holdings Limited and Baanx.com Ltd., providers of payments and card infrastructure. The latter were previously part of W3C Corp, which defaulted.

The services of these firms were integrated into Exodus products, expanding the company’s capabilities in stablecoin payments and payment cards.

The new release indicates that this is exactly the direction the company will focus on. The reorganization is needed to “better align the cost structure” with the new strategy and current market conditions.

“Making decisions like this is never easy because they affect talented people who helped build Exodus. We are deeply grateful for their contributions and are committed to supporting them during this transition. These actions position Exodus for its next stage of growth as we build a full-featured payments platform that will deliver meaningful value in everyday life,” said JP Richardson, co-founder and CEO of Exodus.

The company emphasized that all laid-off employees will receive severance pay and retain their benefits. This is expected to result in an additional financial burden of $2.5 million to $3.5 million.

At the same time, the headcount reduction and the reorganization overall are expected, according to the plan, to cut operating expenses by up to $13 million, which will be reflected in the company’s 2027 results.

Exodus did not specify how many people will be affected by the layoffs. As of the end of 2025, the company employed 215 people.

Exodus Movement is not the first fintech and crypto company to report layoffs in 2026. For example, in Meta’s case, the wave of job cuts affected around 8,000 people.
