According to TechFlow, on December 2, Reuters reported that Jan-Oliver Sell, a former executive at Germany's Coinbase, has been appointed as the CEO of the European Stablecoin Consortium. Floris Lugt, head of digital assets at ING, will serve as CFO, and Howard Davies, former chairman of the National Westminster Bank, will be chairman. BNP Paribas has also joined the consortium. Earlier this year, nine major European banks, including ING, Banca Sella, KBC, Danske Bank, DekaBank, UniCredit, SEB, CaixaBank, and Raiffeisen Bank International, announced a joint euro stablecoin project regulated under MiCA, aiming to challenge U.S. dominance in digital payments.
