According to documents filed by the Ethereum treasury company ETHZilla with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) this Friday, it has purchased two CFM56-7B24 aircraft engines for $12.2 million through a newly established subsidiary, ETHZilla Aerospace LLC. The two engines are currently leased to a major airline, and ETHZilla has hired Aero Engine Solutions to manage them on a daily basis, paying a monthly fee. The transaction includes an option agreement: if the engines remain in good condition at the end of the lease period, either party can request the other to buy or sell each engine for $3 million. It is reported that ETHZilla has previously stated its intention to shift into the asset tokenization space, planning to partner with regulated brokerage dealers to bring cash-flow-generating assets such as auto loans and home mortgages onto the blockchain. It is expected to launch its first batch of tokenized assets in the first quarter of this year.
