According to Bitjie, Ethereum developers have finalized the Fusaka upgrade, scheduled for December 3, 2025, following the completion of its third and final testnet phase. The update introduces PeerDAS, a new data sampling mechanism that aims to expand blob storage capacity by over 400%, reduce Layer-2 transaction costs, and improve scalability. The upgrade builds on the 2024 Dencun upgrade, which introduced temporary blob storage to lower gas fees. PeerDAS allows validators to verify Layer-2 data without downloading the full dataset, significantly reducing bandwidth requirements. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin described PeerDAS as 'key to Layer-2 scaling,' capable of enabling near-zero-cost transactions and supporting up to 2.4 million daily settlements. The testnet deployments on Holesky, Sepolia, and Hoodi were completed without major issues. Developers have delayed the PeerDAS release to February 2025, following the Pectra upgrade, to allow for further testing. Market reactions have been mixed, with Ethereum's native token ETH experiencing outflows of $555 million over two weeks. However, institutional demand remains strong, as SharpLink Gaming recently added $78.3 million in ETH to its treasury. ETH's price recently rebounded to $4,229, up 7.5% in 24 hours, with bulls aiming to break above $4,250.
