Based on Cryptonewsland, Ethereum recently increased its block gas limit to 45 million units from 36 million, supported by validators through a community-driven campaign. The upgrade, which did not require a hard fork, allows for more transactions per block and includes EIP-7983 to cap gas usage per transaction at 16.77 million units. zkSync's Airbender research enables real-time proofs for every Ethereum L1 block using just two NVIDIA 5090 GPUs, removing a major bottleneck and unlocking significant scaling potential. Developers aim for 60 million units in the short term and 150 million in the long term, with the Fusaka hard fork and EIP-7935 expected to support these goals.
