BlockBeats News: On January 24, the Ethereum Foundation elevated post-quantum security to its top strategic priority. The EF announced the formation of a dedicated Post-Quantum team led by Thomas Coratger, with support from leanVM cryptographer Emile. Researcher Justin Drake stated that Ethereum is transitioning from long-term background research to active engineering implementation, including the initiation of biweekly post-quantum transaction developer meetings and the operation of a multi-client post-quantum consensus test network.
EF is increasing both financial and community investments, planning to launch two cryptography awards each worth $1 million, and will host multiple post-quantum-related community events and educational programs by 2026. EF emphasized that although the quantum threat remains a medium- to long-term risk, the blockchain industry needs to plan ahead to ensure wallet security and smooth network upgrades.
