Citing TechFlow, the ERC-8021 proposal seeks to natively integrate 'builder codes' into Ethereum, a system that allows app developers to earn revenue by driving transaction volume on platforms like Hyperliquid and Polymarket. Builder codes function as referral codes, enabling third-party apps to earn fees from user activity on other platforms. Phantom, for example, has generated nearly $100,000 daily in perpetual contract trading revenue using Hyperliquid's builder codes. The proposal includes a new transaction suffix and a code registry to standardize the system. Hyperliquid's builder codes have already generated $40 million in developer revenue and over $100 billion in trading volume.
