As per The Coin Republic, in August 2025, the ERC-8004 standard was introduced to enable secure, trust-based coordination between crypto agents through on-chain Identity, Reputation, and Validation registries. The x402 protocol, meanwhile, transformed HTTP 402 status codes into a micropayment system for APIs and machine-to-machine transactions. Together, these standards allow agents to autonomously identify, verify, and pay for services using stablecoins like USDC, streamlining operations such as yield data retrieval and portfolio rebalancing. The integration of ERC-8004 and x402 is shifting crypto infrastructure toward agent-native systems, reducing reliance on human wallet interactions and enabling scalable, automated coordination.
