According to five individuals with direct knowledge, major Chinese tech giants including Alibaba, ByteDance, and Tencent have placed bulk orders totaling hundreds of thousands of units for Huawei’s upcoming chip in preparation for the V4 launch. Two individuals close to the company said that DeepSeek has been collaborating with Huawei and Cambricon over the past several months to rewrite and test portions of the model’s underlying code. DeepSeek is also developing two additional V4 derivative models, each optimized for specific functions and designed specifically to run on Chinese chips.
