In accordance with HashNews, Russian entrepreneur Roman Novak and his wife Anna were kidnapped and later killed in the UAE. Novak, who previously defrauded investors of millions through a cryptocurrency project and was sentenced to six years in prison in 2020, had moved to Dubai and launched a new crypto app called Fintopio, raising hundreds of millions from new investors. In early October, the couple attended what appeared to be a promising investor meeting near Hatta but went missing afterward. After several days of no contact, Novak's relatives reported the incident. Russian and UAE authorities are investigating, suspecting the couple was lured to a rented villa under false pretenses, where the planned business meeting turned into a kidnapping and ransom scheme. The kidnappers allegedly sought to obtain large amounts of cryptocurrency linked to Novak's app and past fraudulent activities. However, the ransom demands failed, and both Novak and his wife were killed.
