Derived from Crypto.News, Canada’s CRA has obtained a court order compelling Dapper Labs to provide data on 2,500 users as part of an expanded investigation into undeclared cryptocurrency income. The CRA initially requested data on 18,000 accounts but narrowed the scope to 2,500 users after negotiations. The agency has recovered over C$100 million in unpaid crypto taxes since 2020 and is planning to establish a new financial crimes agency by 2026. In 2025, Canadian regulators also imposed major AML penalties on platforms like Cryptomus and KuCoin.
