Based on Protos, Coinbase has acquired Echo, the investment platform founded by Jordan Fish (Cobie), for $375 million. The exchange’s CEO, Brian Armstrong, also paid $25 million for an NFT to revive Cobie’s UpOnly podcast. Coinbase stated the acquisition aims to create more accessible capital markets, with plans to expand Echo’s capabilities to tokenized securities and real-world assets. Echo will remain a standalone platform for now but will integrate Sonar’s public sale product into Coinbase. The NFT deal includes a quasi-contract that limits Coinbase’s promotional rights and allows the hosts to criticize Armstrong.
