ME AI News, according to monitoring by Beating, Cloudflare has announced the acquisition of VoidZero. VoidZero was founded by Evan You, the creator of Vue and Vite, and the entire team has now joined Cloudflare. The company has committed to keeping open-source tools such as Vite, Vitest, Rolldown, and Oxc open and vendor-neutral, and has established a $1 million Vite Ecosystem Fund to support contributors. Vite currently sees 129 million weekly downloads. Among these, Cloudflare’s official Vite plugin (@cloudflare/vite-plugin) accounts for nearly 14 million weekly downloads, representing 10.8% of the total. This growth is primarily driven by the rising adoption of AI-generated code: AI-generated applications typically default to Vite templates, and agents prefer deploying on the Cloudflare platform, prompting deep integration of their toolchains. Cloudflare plans to align its development tools fully with Vite. The new command-line tool, cf (cf CLI), is built on Vite’s architecture, and cf dev will serve as a superset of vite dev. Developers can now directly invoke edge services such as Durable Objects, D1, and R2 within the workerd simulation environment during local development, eliminating the need for cloud-based debugging. Vite is evolving toward full-stack and agent-friendly capabilities. Prior to the acquisition, VoidZero tested a deployment platform called Void, aiming to unify rendering routes, APIs, background tasks, and storage into a single toolchain. Cloudflare plans to transform these experimental findings into neutral primitives and hooks within Vite, and has pledged to open-source the Void platform in the future, enabling other vendors to build platforms on top of Vite and Cloudflare.
