According to PANews, the State Council Tariff Commission has released the '2026 Tariff Adjustment Plan,' which will take effect on January 1, 2026. The adjustment aims to promote high-quality development and optimize tariff categories, continuing the implementation of preferential and special tariff rates. Key measures include applying provisional import rates lower than the most-favored-nation (MFN) rates to 935 items, including critical technology components, green transition resources, and medical products. Some items, such as micro motors and printing machines, will revert to MFN rates after their provisional rates are canceled. New tariff categories have been added for smart bionic robots and biojet fuel, bringing the total number of tariff categories to 8,972. The plan also continues the zero-tariff treatment for 100% tariff items from 43 least-developed countries and implements special preferential rates for certain ASEAN member states.
