ChainCatcher report, according to CriptoNoticias, the Metropolitan Public Prosecutor’s Office and police in southern Chile have dismantled a money laundering network involving approximately $90 million, with around 20 individuals arrested. The network is suspected of converting illicit funds into cryptocurrency via exchanges and transferring them overseas; one account manager from Banco Santander was among those arrested. Prosecutor Héctor Barros stated that this is one of the largest money laundering cases in Chile in recent years, and that the illegal activities did not involve the bank’s corporate infrastructure—the bank has fully cooperated with the investigation.
