Nashville, Tennessee, USA, April 22, 2026 — BTC Inc. (a subsidiary of Nakamoto Inc. (NASDAQ: NAKA)) today announced the integration of Lightning Network payments atop its existing BTCPay Server infrastructure, in preparation for Bitcoin Summit 2026, taking place at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas from April 27 to 29, 2026. This expansion extends Lightning Network payment capabilities to conference ticket purchases, point-of-sale terminals, and e-commerce, marking the first time BTC Inc. has uniformly deployed Lightning Network across all its revenue streams under a single unified payment architecture.
The Bitcoin Summit 2026 will be the first real-world deployment of this expanded infrastructure.
An architecture covering diverse businesses
BTC Inc.'s operations span multiple revenue streams—including live events, media, e-commerce, vendor settlement, and fund management—each with distinct payment system requirements. Previous attempts to integrate the Lightning Network showed promise but struggled to scale across business units. Solutions effective in one use case often could not be adapted to others, leaving the company without a sustainable path forward for Lightning Network adoption.
The open-source, plugin-based architecture of BTCPay Server has changed this. BTCPay Server has been running as the core payment infrastructure for BTC Inc. for over a year, offering the flexibility to meet the unique needs of every business scenario without requiring separate solutions for each application.
We had previously attempted multiple times to integrate the Lightning Network into our company, but frankly, it never truly worked smoothly. The issue wasn’t with the Lightning Network itself, but with the complexity of our business ecosystem—events, ticketing, online stores, payroll—solutions that worked for one often couldn’t be easily adapted to another. BTCPay Server is the first infrastructure we’ve had that’s flexible enough to cover all our operations. Extending the Lightning Network to conference ticketing was the final piece of the puzzle; now, the Lightning Network runs end-to-end across all our business functions—it’s no longer an add-on, but the foundation of our entire payment system.
— Di Lewis, Chief Financial Officer of BTC Inc.
BTCPay Server has been serving our payment operations for over a year. Everything we’ve built has laid the foundation for continued growth, and the Lightning Network is the next level. For Bitcoin businesses, free and open-source software is not an option—it’s the foundation.
— Brandon Green, CEO of BTC Inc.
The Lightning Network is fully integrated into the commercial ecosystem.
With the integration of the Lightning Network, BTCPay Server infrastructure by BTC Inc. now supports instant, low-fee Bitcoin payments across three major channels:
- Conference tickets — Attendees can now purchase tickets using on-chain Bitcoin or the Lightning Network via tickets.b.tc, with the system integrated with BTCPay Server, TicketSocket, and Strike for the Lightning layer.
- Point-of-sale terminals — the Lightning Network is now fully operational in the dining areas, official merchandise stores, and bookstores at the Venetian Resort convention venue. Attendees paying with Bitcoin can shop without waiting in line.
- E-commerce — The Lightning Network upgrade has been extended to BTC Inc.'s online store, delivering a consistent payment experience across offline and online channels.
Built on a solid foundation
BTC Inc. first deployed BTCPay Server during the 2024 Bitcoin Asia Summit (Hong Kong) and has since continuously expanded its use at each subsequent event. The BTCPay Server case study released in January 2026 documented the results: over 5,600 on-site Bitcoin transactions, more than $1 million in vendor and employee payments processed via the VendorPay plugin, and a Guinness World Record set at the 2025 Bitcoin Summit in Las Vegas—processing 4,187 Lightning Network and NFC Bolt Card transactions within eight hours.
Extending the Lightning Network to ticketing and e-commerce further expands this infrastructure to previously untapped channels, representing a crucial step toward broader retail adoption and supporting the circular economy championed by Bitcoin.
The core principle of BTCPay Server is self-sovereignty. This is not just a slogan, but a reality embedded in its technical design. As a result, developers and users are free to extend and use BTCPay Server in ways we never anticipated, without needing our prior permission. We are thrilled to see companies like BTC Inc. exemplify this spirit in practice!
