According to Bitcoin.com, the Brazilian Ministry of Finance is preparing a proposal to tax stablecoin flows as remittances, sparking a debate with lawmakers. Some members of Congress, including Deputy Aureo Ribeiro, have expressed opposition, arguing that the measure could harm stablecoin adoption and push users to foreign platforms. Dario Durigan, Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, stated the government is committed to regulating and taxing crypto assets, calling it necessary for the economy. Ribeiro warned that the tax could disincentivize local investment and drive crypto capital out of the country.
