Huo Xing Finance reports, according to Livecoins, that Brazil’s DEIC, the Property Crime Investigation Unit of São Paulo State, partnered with power company CPFL Piratininga in a joint operation to seize approximately 1,400 Bitcoin mining machines suspected of operating through electricity theft. The stolen electricity is estimated to be sufficient to power around 2,000 households for one month. Although Bitcoin mining is not illegal in Brazil, the actions by CPFL and DEIC specifically target the act of electricity theft.
