Odaily Planet News: Rick Rieder, an executive at BlackRock, is currently one of the top candidates to head the Federal Reserve. However, his past funding of Trump's main political rival and high-ranking Democrats could become a potential obstacle in Trump appointing him, given Trump's emphasis on subordinates' "loyalty." According to data from Polymarket, the probability of Rick Rieder being nominated by Trump is 32%.
According to data from the Federal Election Commission (FEC), Rick Rieder has a history of making cross-partisan donations, supporting Democrats Pete Buttigieg and Cory Booker in 2020, and Jeb Bush in 2016. Importantly, he has never provided financial support to Trump in the three major elections of 2016, 2020, and 2024.
FEC records show that Rick Rieder's donations have also gone to top Democratic figures such as Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, and Mark Warner, as well as Republican establishment figures like Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. His history of political donations began in 2005, and since the 2020 election, his largest donation was $15,825 to a group supporting Nikki Haley in December 2023.
Rick Rieder and representatives from BlackRock declined to comment on this. (Gold10)
