Odaily Planet News: A virtual currency exchange, Bithumb, made an operational error when distributing rewards to 249 users, mistakenly entering 620,000 Korean won as 620,000 Bitcoin, resulting in the erroneous distribution of Bitcoin worth 60 trillion Korean won. Although the exchange recovered 99.7% of the assets, 125 Bitcoin remain unrecovered, valued at approximately 13 billion Korean won.

It has been confirmed that more than 80 people have cashed out the mistakenly credited Bitcoin. Approximately 3 billion won has been transferred into personal bank accounts, and another approximately 10 billion won has been used to purchase other cryptocurrencies. Bithumb is currently communicating with the relevant users to request the return of the funds. For users affected by market fluctuations, Bithumb plans to fully compensate for the selling price difference and provide an additional 10% compensation, while also waiving transaction fees for one week. South Korea's financial regulatory authorities have announced that they will conduct inspections on the internal control and asset verification systems of all exchanges.
