According to CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost, Bitcoin long-term holders now control a record 16.3 million BTC. The average cost basis is $49,400, with unrealized profits at 30%, significantly below the 340% peak seen in January 2025. BTC prices remain under pressure, with potential for further correction. During previous bear markets, long-term holders experienced losses of around 20%, indicating similar risks may lie ahead. Investors should prepare for volatility in BTC’s market dominance and price movements.

Odaily Planet Daily reports: CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost stated on X that the holdings of Bitcoin long-term holders (LTHs—those holding BTC for over six months) have reached a new all-time high, exceeding 16.3 million BTC, with an average cost basis of approximately $49,400. At current prices, this represents only about a 30% unrealized profit, a relatively low level. In comparison, the net unrealized profit of long-term holders peaked at around 340% in January 2025.

Darkfost also noted that at the end of the previous bear market, long-term holders were collectively in a state of approximately 20% unrealized loss, and the market ultimately experienced a deeper correction—indicating that further downside is still possible, potentially pushing long-term holders back into loss territory. However, this is not an inevitable repetition of historical patterns. He advises investors to prepare for both potential market rallies and corrections.
