Odaily Planet Daily reports that Bitcoin investor Olivier Janssens plans to build a libertarian community project called Destiny on the Caribbean island of Nevis. In an email to his mailing list, he stated that once the final agreement with the government is approved, he will immediately begin paying $100 per month to every resident of Nevis, including children. The project previously intended to distribute 5% of profits to local residents; this new initiative accelerates direct payments. This amount represents a significant increase from the $11 (30 Eastern Caribbean dollars) per person Janssens proposed in November 2025.
The proposal has been criticized by opposition figures on the island. Former government minister Carlisle Powell called it an attempt to pressure authorities into approving the project, while Nevis Reform Party member Kelvin Daly labeled it "open bribery" on Facebook, describing it as private developers interfering in the country’s domestic political economy.
The Destiny project, referred to by local authorities as a multi-billion-dollar development initiative, involves large-scale transformation of the southern coast of the island, including villas and medical clinics, with plans to purchase approximately 2,400 acres—about one-tenth of the island’s total area. Nevis Prime Minister Mark Brantley has submitted the agreement with the company to the federal government for approval.
