ChainCatcher report, according to CoinDesk, Bitcoin developers are discussing removing the explicit Replace-by-Fee (RBF) signal from the Bitcoin Core wallet. Developer rkrux stated that since full-RBF has become the standard strategy, the BIP 125 RBF signal has become redundant and may leave unnecessary on-chain fingerprints in wallets. Community member Murch noted that ceasing to send replaceability signals is not as simple as removing a "fingerprint," because each sender must still select sequence numbers for each input; currently, about 75% of transactions already use specific sequence numbers, primarily MAX-2. rkrux said that the default input sequence number should adopt best practices broadly accepted by the wider wallet community.
Bitcoin developers propose removing explicit RBF signals to reduce on-chain fingerprints.

Bitcoin news: Developers are proposing to remove explicit RBF signals from the Bitcoin Core wallet, as full-RBF is now standard. On-chain reports indicate that rkrux argues BIP 125 signals are redundant and may leave wallet fingerprints. Murch notes that removing these signals is complex, as sequence numbers are still required. Approximately 75% of transactions use MAX-2. rkrux suggests aligning with community best practices for sequence numbers.
